Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about cocktail recipes, Recipe Lab storage, units, sources and Cocktail Check.

Is CocktailBench free to use?

The current recipe library, Recipe Lab and Cocktail Check can be used without creating an account.

Where are my experiments saved?

Experiments are stored locally in this browser on this device. They are not sent to a CocktailBench account or synchronized across devices. Clearing site data can remove them.

How do I back up or move my notebook?

Use Export notebook to download a JSON backup. On the other browser or device, use Import notebook and choose that file. Export before clearing browser data.

Where do the cocktail recipes come from?

The library includes 100 IBA reference specifications and 12 regional or producer references. Each recipe page links to its source and identifies editorial working specifications.

Are all drinks officially from the listed country?

Country collections show documented associations. They do not claim exclusive origins, and regional ratios can vary.

Can I switch between ml and ounces?

The workspace library supports ml and approximate US fluid ounce conversions. Dashes, drops and spoon measures stay unchanged.

Does Cocktail Check guarantee a balanced drink?

No. It proposes a controlled tasting test based on your selected symptom and conditions. Ingredient brands, syrup strength, temperature and dilution affect the result.

Can I develop a recipe from the library?

Use Develop in Recipe Lab on a recipe page or Use in Recipe Lab in the workspace library. Save your variation and tasting verdict as an experiment.

Why does a recipe differ from the one at my bar?

Cocktails often have multiple accepted versions. The listed source defines the specification on that page. Record your house specification in Recipe Lab.

Are Google search results guaranteed?

No. Search engines decide which pages to crawl, index and display. Source links and structured data do not guarantee ranking or rich results.
